I'm from South Wales and I think he did a good job. However, there are a lot of different accents even throughout South Wales. For example if I was in a room with some people, one from Merthyr, one from Rhymney, one from Cardiff, one from Ebbw Vale and one from Swansea and one from Blackwood. I guarantee you I'd be able? to say which one was from where just by the accent. And some of these places are just a couple of miles apart. Though someone from England probably wouldn't tell the difference

And I don't even use 'something' I use 'summat' - some people think it sounds uneducated but it comes from Olde English 'someaught' meaning something. Same story with 'owt' and 'nowt' which come from Olde English 'awiht' (meaning anything) and 'newiht' (meaning nothing). I am not Welsh, but that song, is beautiful, and sad that only like 600,000 (20%) use Welsh in Wales. Language I would love to learn though in the US. Its something unique... Many just go and learn Spanish, because its easy to learn. Welsh goes back to like the 1300's. I visited the old castles over there, built before it was the UK. That whole area is beautiful. I would move there? if it was not so expensive...

He was worried that the Welsh would comply if the French or Spanish Catholic powers invaded. So he resolved to tighten his grip on Wales.

Totally agree, I made it a quarter way through, before giving up, it wasn't the Glaswegian text that put me off though, it just never engaged me. I'm halfway through glue at the moment and engrossed. I love his show. I actually saw him live at a local market on my birthday. I mentioned it afterwards when most people were gone. I was a bit shy than. He is such a cool guy. I enjoy his style and? have a 3 his cook books which are terrific.. I think the most memorable reciepe was a spicy chocolate dish with I believe it was chicken. I thought it was odd but than again at that age I was not cooking that myuch although I did enjoy it. RIP my friend and thanks for the great memories

Brittania was a celtic roman province!...but when the German tribes came to the brittish isles..from? northern denmark, germany and holland the celts were kinda ''swept away''.. and went to Wales..thats why welsh people call England ''the lost land''.. and englishman call it welsh..wich means ''foreign''.!! sorry for my bad english:D im from IRAN !

@TheLahness your history is a bit wrong their, the picts lived in scotlandand spoke pictish , the britons spoke? Brythonic, surviving languages from brythonic are welsh, cornish, breton and cumbric (extinct). Very littles is known about pictish, it might have been a celtic language but they are not sure. Irish is a celtic language, and evolved into scottish gaelic in scotland, no native british language survives in scotland.

If you find out what the words actually mean( which they never taught me in school) they absolutely brilliant the most patriotic and proud tribute to welsh history and people, ps the anthem should only be sung by the fans and a brass band or male voice coir in unison, yes cath Jenkins an miss church are hot but they ruin the electricity of the song !?

During a recent Royal visit (I'm assuming this was around January 2008), the Royal Guard puts their dark WELSH sense humour into play... They accompanied Saudi Sheik's King Abdullah arrival with the "Imperial theme of Darth Vader" from STAR WARS.. Hahaha! The first two minutes of this clip are funny, but the 'debate' sequence dragged-on a bit. But I'll let you be the judge of that. Enjoy!
